Flying to Quito was another long travel day. We left the treehouse lodge around 7:30 am for an hour an a half boat ride. At the dock, we met a taxi to drive for about two hours to the airport. After two flights we got a taxi to our hotel. The street with our hotel is closed to vehicles so the driver pulled over and told us to walk one block and turn right. It was a holiday weekend and Calle de Ronda was packed with people. After getting to the end of the block without seeing our hotel, we asked a policeman. He pointed us in the correct direction (we should have turned left) and said to keep our cell phones in our pocket. We finally arrived to the hotel just after 8 pm. (The photos of Calle de Ronda were taken the following day.) We went to a nearby restaurant for traditional potato soup (served with flaming salt) and a side of humitas (corn tamales).
